Shi Xin sees his son who are waiting for him home in Liudou Village of Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, central China's Hunan Province, Jan. 19, 2017. The most important spirit of Chinese New Year, or Spring Festival, is family reunion. That's why Shi Xin, a 33-year-old migrant worker who earns a living in south China's Guangdong Province, spent a 24-hour weary journey on his way home but still fells it worthy. (Xinhua/Liang Xu)

The Spring Festival, or Chinese Lunar New Year holiday, which falls on Jan. 28 this year, is known as the world's biggest migration, with millions of migrant workers travelling vast distances for family reunions. Passengers carrying daily necessities get off the 5633 green train running on the Sichuan part of southwest China's Chengdu-Kunming Railway at Tiekou Station, Jan. 16, 2017. As modern high-speed trains shot past new stations throughout China, a slow-speed green train still runs through some poverty areas of Daliang Mountains where people of Yi ethnic group mainly live. The old-fashioned train started operating in 1970, with no air conditioning and restaurant car. Now, it's still a cheap and convinient way for local people to travel. (Xinhua/Jiang Hongjing)

Riders always carry large boxes of care for their loved ones on the back of the motorcycles, making their homecoming journeys very hard. The boxes contain gifts the migrant workers have bought in big cities for their family members living in rural areas.(Xinhua/Wei Peiquan)
